November 2018 - Autumnal Feelings

The fun of Halloween is behind us and now the Autumnal Feelings of Thanksgiving are Fresh and filled with Warm Breezes (in this part of Los Angeles)... Today's forecast is for  78° warming into the 80's for the rest of the week.

A busy weekend with Children and Art and Festivals is ahead...  but not without checking in with my artsy folks first.

What's up NEXT for Suzanne's Studio / Art Demonstrations / Art Lessons / Workshops and whatever else.. oh yeah, BOUTIQUES?   I have added links where suitable and hopefully you will check in and check out some of these special things with me.

I'm a long-range planner, this helps me stay focused on my own art, as well as balancing the events in my family as a parent / mom / volunteer.... you know how that goes.  All dates are subject to change but overall... it's a focus.

Plein Air Art Sale: November 1 - December 15

I have been getting out and about locally more and more, to learn, share, and practice my own art style and techniques.  Whether I am solo or with a small or large group of other artists, I find this to be a huge part of my growth as an artist.  Last month I was at the Redondo Beach Pier where I painted from the seating at the Quality Sea Food / Fish Market (and had lunch too)
I painted at the Torrance Historical Society's Historical Homes Tour, and painted a "Model A" and the Porch of an Arts and Crafts 1926 home.  It was a beautiful October day and a little rain made the air clean and breathtaking.

Following the blogs and websites of other artists is just as important, for I believe even the most successful Plein Air artists is always a student.  We are always learning something about a material, a tool, or a technique.

Supporting the Artist Community Locally, Nationally and Around the world is important to me as well.  As an unfortunate result of Hurricane Michael in Florida (October 2018), The Forgotten Coast (Franklin County) was just about wiped out.  This is an area of Florida where there is an annual gathering of Plein Air painters, and I've become familiar of the small businesses, family businesses, and local establishments that are warm, friendly, hospitable, and connected to my friends and artists who make it to the Plein Air events each spring.  I have yet to make it out there in May, but it is on my wish list.   Without blinking, an artist who I follow and view as a mentor, posted an Art Auction to raise money for rebuilding and helping the relief efforts....  in a quick minute artists from all over the country were posting and sharing their own pieces to add.... collectively over $100,000 which will be going directly to already established efforts.  Here's a link to learn more about Operation FundStorm. I am pleased to say that my own piece was purchased and will soon be heading to a collector in South Carolina.  I just need to wait another week or so for the paint to dry.
